What’s a Volkswagen Crafter messing van?

A messing van is a crew van with a kitchen, designed for teams working on-site, away from facilities. We’ve just built our first messing van demonstrator on a Crafter, with converter Clarks Vehicle Conversions. It offers Clarks' new and unique On Demand System, which provides hot water and heating without using the vehicle’s engine.

What are its strengths?

• The van can carry five passengers and has a microwave, heater, hot water for drinks and a hand-washing sink
• The microwave runs from battery power, through an inverter
• The On Demand System is fired by a separate, highly efficient diesel-fired system. Operators make a cost-saving and reduce their environmental impact, while the crews can make as many hot drinks as they like
• This demonstrator is a basic conversion: a toilet, shower and wet-locker can all be fitted
